Manchester Orchestra - The Gold

| Keith
Couldn't really love you any more
You've become my ceiling
I don't think I love you anymore
That gold mine changed you
You don't have to hold me anymore
Our cave's collapsing
I don't wanna be me anymore
My old man told me

Manchester Orchestra, out of the ATL, has been putting out interesting and endearing music for around ten years now, exploring a variety of styles along the way. Their new single "The Gold" is excellent and captures all that they do best with thoughtful songwriting and beautiful arrangement. Looks like they're on tour and coming to Austin soon, and that's exciting. I saw them way back, opening for Brand New in Seattle, and the memory of them rocking "Where Have You Been?" is one of my live show favs.

COIN - Don't Cry, 2020

| Kerri

We were summer late bloomers
Fumbling through our teen age
We used to talk about the future
Remember when you couldn't wait?

I can't take you serious, I'm serious
It's your party and you're still in bed, you won't get dressed
I can't take you serious, are you serious

Don't cry
Don't cry
Alright
Oh, it's all gonna be alright

Years go by whether you want them to

Last year I posted "Run" and mentioned I wasn't in love with their new (at the time) single "Talk Too Much". Well, it grew on me, but there were so many even better gems on the full album when it came out this year. Like this one! We haven't got our tickets yet, but I'm getting excited for ACL this fall, and weekend two has this band, been on my list for a couple years now.

Gang of Youths - Let Me Down Easy

| Keith
You want someone to want you for who you are
I want someone to try and let me down easy, easy tonight
Easy, easy tonight

Honey, it’s no secret that with matters of the heart
I’m reserved, I’m irrational and rarely ever start
Since the world’s dark and often inhumane
We relish our condition, come drinking in the rain
‘Cause you remember when, after Paris
We all decided the best way to fight it was
Drink wine, dance, heal and pray
And make love that lasts with a vengeance
So you can join the cowards all aboard the outrage train
You can stay afraid, or slit the throat of fear and be brave
And scratch a little itch ‘till you’re moving like a motherfucker
Up in this bitch

You wanted to fight for a cause?
Then go out and fall in love
Don’t stop, don’t stop believing
In truth, grace, and the grieving
You want someone to want you for who you are
I want someone to try and let me down easy, easy tonight
Easy, easy tonight

Have I told y'all how much I love Gang of Youths? Oh yeah. I guess I have. Twice. Well, they've been putting out a steady string of really great new music. From the totally rockin' "Atlas Drowned" to today's Most Important "Let Me Down Easy" which has a bit of a lighter sound and feel than most of their other work. Love the message and the lyrics and the bouncy beats. It reminds me of something...but I can't place it. Anyway, I'm excited for their new album, Go Farther In Lightness, to drop. What I don't love is that I've missed them on their latest US tour. They played The Bottom of The Hill in SF too. One of my favorite venues! That makes four times I've just barely missed them. Dang it. They're up to #1 on my list of bands to see and I'd love to do it before they're huge. :D
