Two Door Cinema Club - Standing on Ghosts

| Kerri

TDCC is 10 years old, well their first EP is, and they've just released it online for the first time. Consequently, I just heard "Standing On Ghosts" for the first time and, yep! It sounds like early TDCC ("Cigarettes in the Theatre" is also on this EP). What surprised me more than a little bit was learning the Irish boys were just 16 when this came out. So they were, like, 15 when they formed the band?? And were bang on this good??

Unlikely Friends - All the Cameras in Japan

We're still getting into the swing of regular life after SXSW. It was terrific, as per the usual, and we'll have some tuff to share soon. In the meantime, enjoy this peppy, poppy, summery cut from Unlikely Friends, a PacNW band who reminds me of Library Voices and Seattle summers.

Lucy Dacus - Next of Kin

| Keith

SWSW is almost here! Hopefully the next week or so will see Kerri and I showcasing some new finds as we run around Austin enjoying the music. We'll see. So, let's start with one I'm excited to see!

Lucy Dacus' new album, Historian, is quite good. And a difficult one to choose a Most Important song from. In the end I went with "Next of Kin", a catchy track that showcases Lucy's lovely voice as a perfect pair for grinding, garage guitars. I could have easily went with the fantastic, if quite different, "Night Shift", which is also a stand out on an album of really good songs.
