Robert DeLong - Happy

| Kerri
You come here you don't need an occasion
Just an ill-advised itching for the conversation
Got a good sub going, got a good vibration
Getting mixed results from mixing strong libation

A Seattle child like us, DeLong moved on to L.A. to ply his trade and hone his sound of singer/songwriter meets electronica. His version of "experimental dance" didn't hit my ears until his third album released in 2015, and specifically the track "Don't Wait Up". For today's MIS, I mined back to his debut album. I love the echoing vocals, the slow, methodic wall of sound that crashes in on you, the almost whistling keys, the trailing piano. "Happy" is definitely a repeatable track and good for building a mood. Let's build up a happy mood for this week, shall we?

Petit Biscuit - Sunset Lover

| Kerri
You know how far I'm prepared to go
I will be a boat and row
Your beauty to the moon
If that's okay with you

I hadn't come across anything by Frenchman Petit Biscuit (aka Mehdi Benjelloun) in quite a while, til last month when new single "Gravitation" came out. But rather than posting that to the playlist, I feel like celebrating his brake-out hit: the wonderful, dreamy, happy "Sunset Lover" produced alone in his room at age 16. I think it's perfect for a warm, sunny autumn Sunday.

together PANGEA - Kenmore Ave.

She says that living with me is bringing her down
I know this shit that I'm on is bumming me out
I don't wanna try I wanna figure it out
Cause I know that living with me is bringing me down

"She don't know about [together] PANGEA" ~ Brain

I didn't either, until about a week ago. "Better Find Out", a terrific, and in this case, appropriately titled, track, showed up in one of the many playlists I follow and I earmarked them for a listen. (Get it?) Anyhoo, I've given their latest, Bulls And Roosters, a couple spins and it's a damn fine album. The back catalog has some diamonds as well. They've got a fairly unique sound; garage rock, but put in a blender and mixed up with...the kitchen sink and refrigerator too. They remind me of some of my favorite Canadian indie bands: Sloan and Library Voices, but with a bit more Cali.
